Reign of the Supermen #459: Fernando Lucas' Superman

Source: Project: Rooftop (2008)
Type: Fan-made
Continuing Reign's commitment to showcasing fan-created Supermen, here's Fernando Lucas' Richard Donner crystals concept that would make a cool Elseworlds story, where one of the darkest Supermen is also one of the brightest. The crystal suit is prickly and constantly growing and shedding... maybe that could be the origin of kryptonite in this world. No matter how much he glitters, he's a dour Superman, as the "S" shield shows. Making the "S" a stylized explosion of Krypton means it's always on his mind. Is he a Spider-Man figure, the responsibility of the protecting the planet weighing on him? If so, the Elseworld should feature a very real/recurring threat to Earth. Or is he more of a Batman figure, fixated on the past, perhaps even avenging the death of his home planet? In that case, the story would focus on those responsible (Brainiac? Phantom Zone villains?) now hiding on Earth.

That's why I like these fan re-designs. So evocative.

Oh, they're CRYSTALS! That makes sense. At first I couldn't understand why Superman had feathers.

Sorry.

Yep, it looks like a chicken suit at first glance.
