Reign of the Supermen #42: Electric Superman Red/Superman Blue

Source: Superman Red/Superman Blue #1 to Superman vol.2 #135 (1998)
Type: TransformationElectric Superman was all in blue, so it seems a natural to use it to update the classic Silver Age story of Superman Red/Superman Blue. Sadly, that update didn't feature mermaids flying through space in a huge water funnel, but we can't always get everything we want.

If explanations for Electric Superman are slim, so are those for the split between Red and Blue. Basically, Superman gets caught in a trap set by the Cyborg-Superman and is SOMEHOW split into two beings. By the end of the storyline, the two Supermen will SOMEHOW merge back together and return Superman to normalcy. SOMEHOW is quite the magic word.

There are two major differences with the Silver Age story (well, aside from Silver Age shenanigans). First, the two Supermen are not alike in temperament. Blue is a cerebral thinker, while Red is rash and action-oriented. As time goes by, they become more and more individual and don't want to be merged. The other difference is that they both love the same woman; there's no "other woman" (sorry Lana). They even fight over her, and Lois kicks them out of the house. But had she chosen between them, who would have been the better husband? Let's help her out...
Hmm...
Uhm...
Oh Red!

I guess that answers THAT!
